An organization I absolutely love here in our city (email me for more details, don't like to give out our location) helps single moms get back on their feet. It's a great ministry with great people working for it. There are two homes set up for women and their children and when things look a little down or out-dated they ask for volunteers to adopt a room and revamp it from ceiling to floor.

As I walked through the houses today I saw endless possibilities. Being married to a designer I imagined how beautiful and homey he could redesign those rooms, making this an even better place for single moms to feel good about themselves and get back on their feet. But, as many of you know, George and I are not wealthy in the slightest. We plan to save as much as we can to adopt a room or two or three or four or five (wouldn't that be nice?), but I wanted to ask your help as well. We think we can cheaply do this for under $1,000, including the floor.

George and I are broker than broke right now, but I'm praying God will provide. I look around our apartment and see things that are way nicer than the rooms these mom's live in. I see an abundance of toys our kids don't even play with. I see decorations we don't need. Books that are wasting space. Tons of things I could either sell or use to revamp a room for a single mom. So, I'm going to see what I can do, but I'm also asking for help from others. Even a dollar donation is helpful. If every reader of my blog donated one dollar I would have $1,000. And I will post before and after pictures of the room (and family) you helped.

These mommas truly appreciate that strangers are willing to do so much for them since they are surrounded by people in their lives who have abused them and left them on the streets. It means more than you could know.
