The Right Web Hosting Company

Choosing the right company to host your website can be tricky. We've tried several companies and have found most of them to be unreliable in some way. Companies to stay away from: GoDaddy, JustHost, BlueHost, and Brinkster -- just to name a few.

The right hosting company should have stellar customer service, great packages, and decent prices. I say decent because the cheaper you go ... well, the more problems you will find.

We recommend two web hosting companies. The cheaper one, 1and1 Web Hosting, has never given us any problems. We typically use the Business Package, which is currently $0 for the first six months and $9.99/month thereafter. This package will provide you with 3 domain names, 200 subdomains, and 2,500 email accounts and offers a total of 250GB web space. This is the package you want if you are an author or business (something more than a simple personal site). Even if you don't plan on using 2,500 email addresses you will want the web space.

The other hosting company we recommend is Liquid Web Hosting. We use Liquid Web for our Tekeme site and Ashley's Beauty After Rain website. We love their customer service, the amount of space, and their Control Panel (which is very easy to use). We currently use their Shared Professional package. It's $24.95/month (much more than 1and1) but offers us the space we need for a website as large (and growing) as we want ours to be. We like this package because of the FREE SSL Certificate and the dedicated IP address, which I'll explain sometime soon.

The only problem we have had with Liquid Web has been their email servers. We have had many issues with our emails not coming through or getting blocked, but this is due to the Shared Hosting we are using. Shared Hosting is when you share your web space with other people, and if those people use their emails for spam you can easily have your email address blocked from email providers. This has been frustrating, but the positives outweigh the one negative to us. One way to get around this problem is to buy a Dedicated Hosting package, but that is a bit out of our price range right now. One of these days perhaps we can do so.

So, if you plan on using your website for forums, live chats, shopping carts, and lots of other add=on's, I'd suggest Liquid Web. However, if you just need a simple business or personal site with a few add-on's I'd go with 1and1.

Stay away from GoDaddy, JustHost, BlueHost, and Brinkster!!

To any new client who signs up for a web package within the next 2 weeks we will provide you with 2 years of free hosting with 1and1!
